EAST PROVIDENCE, RI --igus, inc. now offers two new cost-effective cables for data transmission applications where tight bend radii are not a crucial factor. UL approved Chainflex CF211 and CF240 cables share some of the same design features of other Chainflex cables, such as a low-adhesion PVC-based outer jacket, high flexural strength shielding and short-pitch conductor twisting. They are also capable of operating smoothly through millions of cycles under long and short travel conditions, using a larger bend radius than standard Chainflex cables, which in turn makes them a more cost-effective alternative.

The CF211 is a twisted pair data cable with a 70% linear, 90% optical coverage shield. This cable can be used with bus systems, although it is not specifically designed for any one particular type. The minimum bend radius is 12 times the cable diameter (<10 times the cable diameter for less than 1 million cycles). the cf211 is currently offered in 18 different sizes.<>

The CF240 is a shielded data cable. The minimum bend radius is also 12 times the cable diameter (<10 times for less than 1 million cycles); however, since the outer diameter is smaller, the proportion is such that it may be possible to use this cable with a smaller cable carrier if space is an issue. the cf240 is available in 21 different sizes.<>

Both the CF211 and the CF240 have a mobile temperature range of 23 degrees F to 158 degrees F (-5 degrees C to 70 degrees C), an operating voltage of 300V and an isulation resistivity of > 20 MW x km. They are both flame retardant according to IEC 31-, oil resistant according to VDE, UL approved, and CE certified.
